Getting found on Google

The 5 reasons you’re not getting boiler installation enquiries from Google

This lesson draws on my webinar, Why Your Plumbing & Heating Business Isn’t Getting Enough Boiler Installation Enquiries From Google, and on my book and booklet. Fix these five and you’ll be found by the homeowners planning a new boiler.

1. Your marketing is built for the emergency caller

Every heating firm serves two customers: the emergency caller who rings whoever answers first, and the homeowner planning a new boiler who spends weeks comparing firms. Most marketing only speaks to the first.

The fix: point your Google presence at the planner. Put install work front and centre, show photos of finished installations, and give plain answers to the questions they ask before they ring.

2. Your Business Profile is set up for the wrong searches

If your primary category is Plumber, Google shows you for taps and toilets. Twenty towns in your service area dilutes the signal in your own patch, and a description about passion tells Google nothing.

The fix: make Heating contractor your primary category, list the six to ten towns you really cover, and lead your description with boiler installation and those towns.

3. Your reviews don’t name the job

“Great service” does almost nothing for you. Homeowners and Google both look for reviews that mention the work, how recent they are, and how many there are. A firm with forty reviews beats a firm with four.

The fix: ask at the end of every job, while the customer is still standing there, and steer them. “Fitted a Worcester combi in Didsbury” is a search term. Reply to each one, naming the job again.

4. You’re not on Local Services Ads, or they’re set up wrong

Local Services Ads sit above everything else on the page with Google’s verification badge, and you pay for a connected call rather than a click. Most firms either aren’t on them or pay for every job type going.

The fix: get verified with your Gas Safe number, insurance and matching company details, then restrict your job types to installation and replacement work.

5. Enquiries and quotes go cold

Google measures how many Local Services calls you actually answer, and a missed call counts as missed even if you ring back five minutes later. Then the homeowner compares two or three quotes, and silence hands the job to someone else.

The fix: decide who answers when you’re on the tools, send a one page quote within a day, and chase every quote once by phone on day three.
